The George B. Vashon Innovator Award (“Vashon Award”) honors mid-sized law firms (100–499 lawyers) and companies (outside the Fortune 1000) that are advancing innovative practices to support attorneys of all backgrounds. Named for George B. Vashon - scholar, abolitionist, and the first Black lawyer in New York - the award recognizes organizations that carry forward his legacy of expanding opportunity, increasing access, and building a more equal legal profession.
The Vashon Award winners are selected based on standout submissions to MCCA’s annual State of the Legal Profession report.
