Tommy Shi has been appointed corporate development and transformation officer at Mercedes-Benz USA. In this capacity, Shi will be responsible for providing the strategic direction, development, and implementation of the company-wide cultural transformation and diversity strategy. This broad-based responsibility embraces related human resources, retail network, purchasing, training, and marketing activities at MBUSA. Shi will report to Paul Halata, president and CEO for MBUSA.

Shi has been with the MBUSA team for the past ten years, serving most recently as a counsel in the legal department. Previously, he was an associate at Riker, Danzig, Scherer, Hyland & Perretti.

Active in diversity activities and organizations, Shi was the recipient of a 2002 National Asian American Corporate Achievement Award from the Organization of Chinese Americans and serves on the Leadership Advisory Council of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. Shi is also a past president of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association of New Jersey and was selected by the American Council on Germany as an American representative to the annual American-German Young Leaders Conference. Shi’s other volunteer efforts include service with the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Character, the New Jersey Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Bar Admissions, the Board of Trustees, and the Young Lawyers Committee Chair of the Morris County Bar Association.

Shi received his law degree from Boston College Law School and holds a B.A. in behavioral biology from Johns Hopkins. Born in Taipei, Taiwan, Shi speaks Mandarin, Taiwanese, and French.
