Simone Wu serves as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary & External Affairs for Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH), one of the world’s leading hotel companies. In this role, Ms. Wu serves as the primary legal advisor to the company’s senior management team and Board of Directors. In addition to leading the company’s legal function as general counsel, she also oversees government affairs, risk management, partner services, corporate communications and public relations.
Ms. Wu joined Choice Hotels in 2012, and has over 25 years of legal, executive, and regulatory experience and expertise, particularly in corporate governance, business development, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial transactions, employment law, and intellectual property issues. Earlier in her career, Ms. Wu served as executive vice president, general counsel, and secretary for XO Communications, a national provider of advanced telecommunications services. She has also held legal and business leadership roles at MCI and AOL, and practiced corporate transactional and communications law at Skadden, Arps, Slate and Meagher & Flom.
Throughout her career, Ms. Wu has been an outspoken proponent of women and diversity in the workplace, advocating for these themes at numerous industry and legal conferences. Among her most recent speaking engagements, Ms. Wu represented Choice Hotels at the 2017 NYU Hospitality Investment Conference, where she identified strategies to develop leadership through diversity.
Ms. Wu earned a degree in political science from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Columbia University. She serves on the Boards of Directors of the International Franchise Association, the Association of Corporate Counsel–National Capital Region, and the Minority Corporate Counsel Association.
