Leader of Manatt’s IP Protection and Enforcement practice, Michelle Cooke helps IP owners build, protect and monetize assets domestically, internationally and online. She advises clients on brand strategies, online content, digital assets and real estate, international IP protection/enforcement, sale/acquisition of IP, trade secrets and privacy/data security.
Adopting a global perspective on preplanning, management and vigilance to promote IP value and lay the foundation for exploitation of the global marketplace. She has particular market knowledge of the entertainment, media, consumer products, apparel, and healthcare industries.
Michelle advises clients on trade secrets, privacy and data security, helping them minimize liability exposure and act when there has been unauthorized access and use of their IP. She assists companies in addressing phishing, email impersonation of employees and related brand rehabilitation. Additionally, Michelle leads dispute proceedings against infringers and counterfeiters, including administrative proceedings, customs seizures and online take-downs, as well as manages international litigation.
Michelle received her B.A. and J.D. from University of Virginia School of Law, and is admitted to practice in California and Washington, D.C.
