Michelle Banks was promoted to the position of senior vice president and general counsel of Gap Inc., located in San Francisco, Calif. Banks joined Gap Inc.’s legal department in January 1999.
Prior to becoming general counsel, she had established and led Gap Inc.’s corporate compliance and corporate governance programs. Before joining Gap Inc., Banks worked in-house as legal counsel for the Golden State Warriors NBA team, and in Japan as American counsel for ITOCHU Corporation.
Banks was also associated with several law firms, including Morrison & Foerster. Her law firm practice focused on corporate finance and international transactions.
She has been a guest speaker in the area of compliance and governance at numerous professional conferences.
Banks graduated from UCLA with degrees in law and economics.
