Chief Litigation Counsel
Gilda Spencer was recently named chief litigation counsel heading up the Litigation Department in the Office of the Chief Legal and Governance Officer at Nationwide Insurance. In this role, she is responsible for leading the various teams that manage all corporate litigation, property, and casualty extracontractual and class action litigation, financial services litigation, employment litigation, and discovery matters. Spencer will be responsible for directing litigation strategy, overseeing its resolution, and managing outside counsel budgets. Previously, Spencer served as vice president, associate general counsel for all employment, property and casualty class action and corporate litigation. Prior to joining Nationwide, Spencer was an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of Ohio. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Ohio State University and her J.D. from the University of San Diego.
