Debra Hunter Johnson has been promoted to vice president, human resources operations support for American Airlines. In this position, she will oversee human resources support for field departments with a strong focus on advancing the airline’s diversity and workplace environment initiatives.
Prior to her promotion, Hunter Johnson served as an associate general counsel with an emphasis on employment and immigration law. She joined American as an attorney in 1990, was promoted to senior attorney in 1995, and to associate general counsel in 1996.
Before joining the airline, Hunter Johnson served as an attorney with the then Chrysler Corporation. Prior to that, she was with the former law firm of Patterson Phifer & Phillips.
Hunter Johnson has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Howard University.
