Waste Management Inc. appointed Barry H. Caldwell as senior vice president of government affairs and corporate communications.
Mr. Caldwell will be responsible for leading the Houston-based company’s government affairs and corporate communications programs and activities.
Previously, he worked at CIGNA Corporation, the Philadelphia-based health insurance and retirement products provider, where he was vice president of government relations.
Prior to CIGNA, he was vice president of federal affairs for the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America. Before that, he was chief of staff for United States Senator Arlen Specter.
Mr. Caldwell began his career as an attorney with Kutak Rock & Campbell and later Cole Corette & Abrutyn, both Washington, D.C. law firms.
He earned a B.A. from Dartmouth College and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
