Business Development Workshop
for Outside Counsel

Through instruction and experiential learning, diverse attorneys will work together to learn skills and behaviors for building successful client relationships. This 3-hour workshop was created to specifically address the “leaky pipeline” issue, help each attorney be better prepared when presenting in front of high-level clients and build their book of business. Research has shown that attorneys of color rarely receive feedback until it is too late. The goal is to help each attorney be better prepared for client presentations and to receive candid feedback from in-house counsel.

Participants will learn from senior in-house counsel coaches how to prepare for a pitch, what constitutes an effective pitch and what clients look for when interviewing outside counsel. Participants will also
work in small teams to develop a formal pitch for legal services, which will be presented to the senior
in-house counsel coaches.
