Description: The Los Angeles – Century City office of McGuireWoods seeks an Associate for the Labor & Employment Department.

We counsel employers in every aspect of the employer/employee relationship, including federal, state and international law compliance; traditional labor issues; internal investigations; federal contracting; and executive compensation.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate would have 5+ years of experience. The candidate must have a strong academic background and demonstrate top-notch legal research, analysis and writing abilities, including fluent working knowledge and understanding of California and federal court procedural and evidence rules. In addition the candidate, must have experience working on defense of wage and hour class actions, PAGA actions, or collective actions (such as discovery, witness interviews and class certification) with partner and/or senior attorney oversight. The candidate must also have experience working on defense of single-plaintiff employment cases with partner and/or senior attorney oversight, experience taking and defending depositions, administrative hearings, and experience presenting oral arguments at state and federal trial court hearings. Appellate experience is also preferred, but not required. California bar is required.
