Position: Commercial Litigation Associate

Description: The Chicago office of Dentons US LLP is seeking a commercial litigation associate to join our sophisticated Litigation practice. Candidates should have excellent academic credentials, 3-4 years of legal experience, and proven ability to manage complex litigation and investigations. Our associates work collaboratively with our partners and clients and are key members of our team. Expected responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Drafting and preparing pleadings, motions and other litigation documents
  • Working on a variety of litigation matters as needed
  • Conducting legal research and writing
  • Managing Discovery
  • Working on all aspects of pretrial to trial

Qualifications:

Personal skills/attributes

  • Can effectively communicate research into meaningful written work product
  • Possesses strong writing and analytical skills
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills and is able to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and possesses keen attention to detail

Technical skills

  • 3-4 years of experience in a law firm is required
  • Strong writing and case management skills, direct experience handling clients and adversaries, and excellent oral advocacy skills are required; deposition and court experience is preferred
  • Federal District Court or Appellate clerkship(s) is a plus
  • Insurance coverage experience is a plus
  • Other requirements
  • Should be licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois and be in good standing
