Position: E-Discovery Staff Attorney

Description: The Charlotte office of McGuireWoods seeks a Discovery Counsel Services Staff Attorney with experience to steer the logistics and strategy of discovery from start to finish, establishing a transparent and trustworthy process for the case team and the client. Serve as a liaison between the Discovery and Merits teams and the client and vendors and develop defensible, cost-effective ESI plans and strategies. Also, ensure that the matter stays within the budget or flat fee requirements and expectations are met. Keep the merits team abreast of progress during discovery operations, reporting on work that has been accomplished, work remaining and estimated costs and timetables for completion. Provide advice to the merits team and client on the scope of discovery and negotiate with opposing counsel on discovery issues. Draft discovery responses and discovery related motions and responses. Will need to analyze data and perform search term validation and use analytics and other techniques to avoid reviewing documents that can be eliminated for review. Must understand both the substantive and strategic aspects of the litigation and the technology used for reviewing electronic discovery. Take ownership of the discovery projects, shepherding the project through the planning and scoping the discovery, collection, processing, review and production and privilege logs. Assist the case team in developing the facts of the case, interviewing witnesses and transferring this information to the document review team. Must be flexible and able to adapt to the unexpected, navigate difficult deadlines and manage the many internal and external participants in the process. Significant experience managing discovery projects is required. Must be highly organized and have a good knowledge of Relativity and other e-discovery tools.
