Q: What is Diversity & the Bar?
A: Diversity & the Bar, a publication of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), examines issues relating to the recruitment, retention, and promotion of minority attorneys in order to establish inclusiveness in the practice of law.
MCCA was founded in 1997 to advocate for the expanded hiring, retention, and promotion of minority attorneys in corporate law departments and the law firms that serve them. MCCA accomplishes its mission through the collection and dissemination of information about diversity in the legal profession, and Diversity & the Bar is the signature publication of the association.
Q: How often is Diversity & the Bar published?
A: The magazine is published on a bimonthly basis; MCCA published an additional issue in 2007 to commemorate the association’s tenth anniversary. The editorial themes for the year are as follows:
- January/February – law firm issue
- March/April – corporate issue
- May/June – recruitment and retention issue
- July/August – women GC issue
- September/October – minority GC issue
- November/December – year-end issue
Q: How can I subscribe to Diversity & the Bar?
A: The magazine is distributed to member corporations and a large segment of the subscribers to ACC Docket magazine published by the Association of Corporate Counsel. Individual subscriptions are now available.
