Position: Events and Operations Coordinator

Description: Minority Corporate Counsel Association (‘MCCA’) is seeking an experienced, take charge individual, who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work collaboratively with a diverse group of team members and enjoys working with volunteers. This individual will manage all aspects of planning and coordinating MCCA’s 4 major events including any administrative and operational support necessary to ensure a successful event. He/she must be a quick learner who can anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Events Management – Educational Conferences, meetings and Annual Awards Gala

  • Assist in the planning, production, management, promotion, execution and evaluation of MCCA’s three national educational conferences, six regional leadership academies, and the annual gala including:
    • making site visits,
    • reserving space for the event as well as any necessary hotel accommodations for participants,
    • preparing and modifying event contracts, and
    • negotiating all space contracts as well as any related details to ensure a successful event.
  • Serve as a liaison to all event related matters, including coordinating with any third party vendors and temporary staff.
  • Oversee the development of the mobile app for all educational conferences.
  • Ensure supporting materials for onsite staff management are developed and timely.
  • Maintain reports of hotel housing blocks, including arranging staff housing, speakers, and VIP members.
  • Organizes pre- and onsite registration; trains necessary staff and provides periodic updates on registration and event details.

Financial and Administrative Management

  • Assist with budget development, cost management and financial reconciliation; identifies opportunities for cost savings or revenue generating products/services as appropriate.
  • Work with the development team by assisting with donor file management, invoicing and depositing donation checks and helping with donor receipts.
  • Collaborate closely with other members of staff to ensure programmatic and logistical needs are accomplished.
  • Assist in the outreach and engagement of external association partners.
  • Answer phones, direct calls, take messages and ensure pleasant, courteous and professional interactions with all donors who contact MCCA.
  • Perform special assignments as determined by Management.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading and public speaking.
  • Must be a self-starter who can work with little supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external people at all levels of their respective organizations.
  • Have good judgment to solve event related problems and protect sensitive donor information.
  • Must be organized in all respects and have strong attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but significant work experience can substitute for the degree.
  • Must have at least one (1) year experience in office administrative management and at least two (2) years’ experience planning and coordinating special events.
  • Demonstrated experience with software including: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; and knowledge of Cvent and CitySoft databases a plus. Demonstrated experience with copy editing a plus;
  • A great sense of humor and can-do attitude are a must!

Position: Associate General Counsel

Description: The Associate General Counsel position is in the Corporate Governance Group of the Legal Division. The team is seeking a lawyer experienced with both public company corporate governance and compensation related SEC disclosure (proxy disclosure).

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide general support of the operation of the company’s Board of Directors and Audit, Risk, and Nominating and Governance committees and drafting and reviewing varied committee documentation, including committee charters, resolutions, memoranda, and company policies etc.
