MCCA will kick off its 2009 Diversity Dinner Series in Dallas, TX by honoring two of the nation’s leading corporate legal departments: American Airlines and The Coca Cola Company as well as spotlight the law firm of Vinson Elkins L.L.P. for its diversity efforts at the South/Southwest Region Diversity Dinner at the Westin Galleria in Dallas on February 26. The Honorable Judge Sam A. Lindsay, U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Texas, will deliver opening remarks. Judge Lindsay, nominated by President Clinton in 1997 and unanimously confirmed by the United States Senate, was sworn in as United States District Judge for the Northern District of Texas on September 1, 1998. He is the first African-American to be appointed as a federal district judge of the Northern District of Texas, which includes 100 counties.
Judge Lindsay will join guest co-hosts Rachel Gonzalez, Vice President & Deputy General Counsel of Dean Foods and Wayne Watts, Sr. Executive Vice President & General Counsel of AT&T as well as the General Counsel from the award winning companies and many members of the MCCA network for this special evening celebrating the success of diversity initiatives in the corporate legal profession.
Additionally, MCCA will offer a complimentary panel discussion on diversity best practices featuring the award winners prior to the dinner. This event is FREE and registration for the dinner is not required.
