This job contributes to Starbucks success by providing legal advice and counsel to Starbucks management and partners. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Summary of Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
- Work with supply chain, research and development, business leads and other functions to achieve business objectives.
- Draft, review and support the negotiations of contracts by contributing legal expertise relating to commercial matters, including the purchase and sale of goods and services, licensing of intellectual property rights, product development and product distribution.
- Provide advice and training regarding the negotiation of typical contract terms and resolution of contract issues, intellectual property, antitrust and other topics to proactively manage and mitigate business risk.
- Determines when and how to engage outside counsel. Manages work of outside counsel and associated costs.
- Develops and implements systems and procedures to ensure efficient and consistent conduct of company business.
- Provides advice and counsel to Starbucks management and partners regarding legal matters and issues
 Provides advice and training to other Legal and Corporate Affairs attorneys in area of expertise. Identifies significant risks and liabilities, and apprises others.
- Delegates work to paralegals and other staff, and provides leadership and guidance.

Qualifications: Summary of Experience
- Practice of commercial law in a law firm or company legal department for 5-7 years.
- Experience with cross-border legal transactions strongly preferred.
- Authorized to practice law in Washington, either through general admission or limited admission as house counsel.

Job Description- Senior Counsel-Lending
The Corporate Lending Practice Group is seeking an attorney in New York to support the firm’s lending, trade finance, trade services and related activities involving a wide range of clients. The individual will interact closely with all groups involved in these activities including Credit and Operational Risk, Global Client Management, Credit and Trade Operations and Treasury. The individual will be responsible for (i) advising on all aspects of extensions of credit and trade finance transactions, products, programs processes and related matters; (ii) structuring, documenting, negotiating and closing transactions; and (iii) advising on business, regulatory and legal developments with respect to these activities.

Qualifications:
Advanced Legal Degree. 10+ years experience representing major banks in lending transactions
Letter of credit, trade finance or mutual fund or broker dealer lending experience
Cross-border transactional experience
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent drafting and communications skills
Self-motivated and able to work with minimal direction
Ability to handle a diverse and demanding workload
