Position:  Associate Solicitor for Plan Benefits Security

Description:  The Office of the Solicitor (SOL) handles the legal activities of the Department, including litigation, legal advice and opinions and the drafting and review of regulations.

Qualifications:
1.    In-depth knowledge of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), as well as developing familiarity with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), acquired through litigation, provision of legal advice and /or rulemaking. Significant federal court and/or administrative trial litigation.
2.    Demonstrated ability to develop and implement long range legal strategies dealing with significant ERISA and/or ACA issues.
3.    Successful experience in leading and managing legal offices, components, or significant teams engaged in a broad range of client services, such as litigation, regulations and advice.
4.    Demonstrated ability to collaborate with components across the organization as well as with other government agencies to produce results.

Position:  AVP, Banking & Financial Operations Counsel

Description:  This executive level opportunity will create a collaborative team to handle the legal and regulatory needs of the Office of Treasury, Nationwide Advantage Mortgage Company and Nationwide Bank, and to monitor and implement requirements imposed by Federal Reserve supervision. This role will develop comprehensive support of Enterprise Risk Management as it is a key part of the Federal Reserve oversight structure and is currently under supported due to lack of resources. This individual must ensure communication among all attorneys and paralegals to eliminate duplicative work, increase efficiency and consistency and to flex work among the areas as needed.


Qualifications: Strong leadership skills essential - must be a collaborative and self motivated leader willing to develop a new banking “center of excellence” as well as develop a strong partnership with ERM. Strong management skills required to manage a team of 11 associates; experience managing several associates and/or several practice areas or topics preferred. 10 or more years of experience providing legal advice in connection with regulatory matters, experience in banking, finance or other highly regulated areas preferred. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal and for numerous types of audiences (regulators, associates, senior management and Board materials) essential. Strong presentation skills and experience also required.
