Minority Corporate Counsel Association Announces 
Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Winners 

 

WASHINGTON – The Minority Corporate Counsel Association, Inc. (MCCA) has announced the recipients of its Class of 2015 Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarships. Winners will receive $10,000 scholarships for law school education. 

The Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program provides support for first-year law students pursuing a Juris Doctor degree. Students receive $10,000 and may qualify for additional funding in their second and third years of law school. Recipients also benefit from fostered mentoring opportunities and assistance with placement in paid summer internship positions with corporate law departments.

Funding for the program is provided by corporate and law firm sponsors dedicated to promoting diversity in the legal profession.

The Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr. Scholarship Program was established in 2005 by MCCA and its supporters, corporate legal departments, law firms and legal services providers.  The program was named for Lloyd M. Johnson, Jr., a visionary leader in the legal profession and founder of MCCA. 

MCCA was founded in 1997 to advance the hiring, retention and promotion of diverse attorneys in legal departments and the law firms that serve them. MCCA accomplishes its mission through publishing, research and training, pipeline initiatives and networking. MCCA’s work has been recognized with awards from the National Minority Business Council, Inc., the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National LGBT Bar, and the Association of Corporate Counsel.
