Ms. Ifill Addresses the Audience                               Conference Attendees Enjoy "March Madness"

The Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA) held its seventh annual Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Expo at the Chicago Marriott Downtown on March 27 - 28, 2008.  Over the course of the two-day event, more than 400 attendees participated in substantive panel discussions delving into Corporate Governance, Intellectual Property, Labor & Employment, Litigation & Investigation, Value-Added Strategies, and Law & Global Commerce.

Speakers and moderators for the substantive legal breakout sessions included representatives from federal governmental regulatory bodies, executive advisory organizations, public trust holding organizations, and leading corporations and law firms.

MCCA kicked off the event with an opening plenary session, sponsored by Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP, featuring esteemed keynote speaker Linda Thomsen, Director of Enforcement of the Securities and Exchange Commission.  Ms. Thomsen spoke on topics ranging from executive responsibility to commerce and law in the global marketplace.

The lunch program on Thursday, sponsored by Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, turned out to be the highlight of the event.  Gwen Ifill, Senior Correspondent with The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, gave a rousing talk on the state of the political landscape.  Her speech couldn't have been more timely, as she discussed how race, gender, and generational differences are influencing this year's presidential election.  Ms. Ifill also spoke about her forthcoming book about the current generation's African American politicians.  Ms. Ifill's presentation concluded with a standing ovation, as well as an extra 45 minutes spent with audience members answering questions and taking photos.

Thursday wrapped up in the conference Hospitality Hall with an exciting "March Madness"-themed reception sponsored by Shook, Hardy & Bacon L.L.P.  The reception featured arcade-style sports and video games, and even included arena-style food to bring more of a sporting feel to the event.

The conference continued on Friday with additional topic breakout sessions and the closing lunch session, "GC 3.0 and How You are Impacted," sponsored by Hall Estill, and featuring speakers Beth Ford (Senior Vice President & Managing Counsel, Cardinal Health), Keith Fuller (Director of Legal Affairs, Centric Group), and Julie Anne Goldberg (Managing Partner - Legal Specialty Practice, Korn/Ferry International).

MCCA is proud to have great sponsors for this unparalleled annual event.  MCCA would like to thank Jenner & Block LLP, the CLE Expo's Premier Sponsor since the inception of the event, along with the other 2008 7th Annual CLE sponsors for their amazing support!
